herman echevarria es un cubano empresario y politico de miami con una fortuna estimada en 30 millones. es dueño de la revista venue, fue presidente de la camara de comercio de hialeah y concejal del ayuntamiento durante mucho tiempo, siempre como yunta del niño penelas en sus ajetreos cuando fue alcalde el condado. su esposa alexia echevarria, a la que le llaman 'la barbie cubana' por ser 'miss carnaval miami 1992', es ahora una de las cougar o mediotiempos del reality show de tv 'the real housewives of miami'. considerada localmente como una caza fortunas, es una mujer que no se mide para ostentar en camara su colleccion de ferrarris y bentleys, y cosas tales como que le da al hijo siempre $100 para salir cada noche en medio de esta crisis nacional, y que la gente de hialeah es de segunda clase y por eso se mudo de alli para key biscayne (imagino que apenas su marido hizo dinero robando en la politica del patio). pero nada de esto ha dicho el herald cuando su hijo -hijastro de echevarria- agredio a golpes a un mendigo cuando le pidio limosna, y lo posteo en facebook. nuestro periodico, al dar la noticia, dijo que fue el hijo de una artista de television de miami. mencionaron a la persona menos importante y de la farandula, no al importante de verdad y de la politica. despues, para ser mas precisos, anunciaron que era el hijo de una de las estrellas del programa 'the real housewives...'. pero de ahi no pasaron. si llega a ser el hijastro mio quien le pega a un indigente, es otra cosa. ya una vez escribi sobre la manera que tiene la prensa local de lidiar con estas noticias. por ejemplo, cuando en la decada del 90 los hermanos menendez mataron a escopetazos a su padre porque los toqueteaba y los ponia a mamar, no les quedo mas remedio que decir que era cubano pero fueron jugando con los eufemismos segun pasaban las semanas en el juicio. el menendez era un millonario productor de peliculas porno y lo anunciaron como empresario del cine de adultos. luego aflojaron mas y dijeron que era un hombre de negocios de la industria del entretenimiento. al final, era un cubano exiliado del castrismo. poco falto para que fuera un freedom fighter. asi es nuestra mierdera prensa local.
