talking last night with rui ferreira tells me that during the dictatorship in portugal that ended with the carnation revolution in april 1974, when they go to the streets to protest, cared not to fall arrested. reason: for the cause of the portuguese freedom they resolv more outside than inside. similarly doesn't remember that any foreign embassy draws them guidelines nor much less invite them to lunch in their precincts. even the nationalism was such that although some embassies were sympathized with their struggle, they never asked them help. by the way i joked with rui to tell him that it would have happened if the kremlin embassy in lisbon had invited them to vote for brezhnev or gromiko in a choice of the soviet communist party. things so, analysing the situation in cuba with these opposition's youths which are highlighting (i talk about yoani sanchez and antonio rodiles) the type of fight that they perform is that of provocation. let me explain. their effectiveness against the regime lies not in what they do on the internet but in the street. apparently their work on the internet is to be known, to capture attention of deluded and protect themselves with awards from institutions with interest in cuba. so we see that in the last 2 months the sanchez has provoked 2 arrests of its person -truly unnecessary- while rodiles was after 3 encounters with the police. it's seen that they get abroad reaction when they fall arrested and not vice versa. the sanchez blog posts already passed without sorrows or glories; while rodiles cyber show, although more attractive in visual order, doesn't rise reaction in the cuban of the island nor interest in the cuban from abroad. to the first by lack of access to internet and to the second by the economic idiosyncratic of the émigré. there is a phrase of the writer jorge ferrer who catches my attention when it parses (in the previous post published on my blog) than these some cuban emigrants have returned not precisely by not adapting to life on the outside but -i quote him literally- than 'return with professional projects expected to advance in the new cuban legal framework and take advantage of business opportunities that not discovered in countries that they emigrated '. that is, the scene roughly. the business that these 2 discovered in cuba was the opposition's. that's why need to be arrested and provoke, to make their enterprise profitable. i mean, to interfere with sincerity by the freedom of rodiles is to damn his business. what counts is the show: posters, slogans, marches, and offending each other.©varela
