SOLARIS

on porpose of my sci-fi season i come with my solaris (with a new scene added), that there are 2 film versions of the famous stanislaw lem's novel, the russian (1972) and the american (2002). or course the russian was better because the american had fear of the audience rejection with the absence of the hollywood happy ending. although at the end the main character, only survivor, created his own world on another planet, this made problems for the work in both countries. in russia was seen as an alienation from the soviet society. and in united states as a evasion of risponsabilty during the confrontation with de arab world. the russians were more consequential because they passed it so; since the americans changed the final sending the astronaut back to earth. so things my cuban version of solaris brings another perspective because even when the man is putting together his own havana, returns to an immediate past to save his deceased wife from an accident involving the loss of his son in the womb. bottom line... the music is 'summer time'. enjoy it or suffer it, whatever you like.©varela
