in the era of social networks on the internet had to come the novel and the movie like cloud atlas (2012). spectacularly beautiful and complicated (the single scene of cherry deflowering digitally in the bedroom wall of the korean is worth the ticket or the cd). who plays with current topics: couples gays, immigration, xenophobia and labor slavery. even flirting with the theology of von däniken (alien gods) and the new age of suzanne weyn (reincarnation of souls for centuries). it used 6 stories where it proposes -recalls- classic or actual movies: amistad, blade runner, lincoln, total recall, the matrix, lord of the rings, and there is even a brief hint to the great 1970s soylent green (futuristic society where we proceed to devour the human in an orderly manner at the official state level) that escapes the entertained eye. and so we see as a very personal small act of kind fed with phrases of statesmen and novelists are creating ripples through time to transform into a revolution of global magnitude. and in the same way a criminal and ambitious soul goes purifying evolved into an altruistic hero who saves mankind. they say that the premiere at the festival of toronto received a standing ovation with applause for 10 minutes with a faint lady and another to which started the period and the blood ran for the floor of the aisle but it's not for less. is the most costly independent film in the history of cinema (102 million, produced in germany) and is interesting to see tom hank, maximum oscars and golden globes winner, making 6 different roles in 3 hours of visual toll. music is another protagonist, if you understand that it's the focus of one of the 6 sub-frames. if you didn't see it watch it. blue-ray dvd comes out on february 5. but here in the yuma don't have to wait that long: pirated digital copies of the russian version is so crystal clear and so amazing sound that is better that the theater because you don't have to shut up anyone and if you want to piss you presse the pause. it's a super-movie that you never forget. sit with comfort and grasp a glass of whatever with a plate of anything. and turn off the cell phone. for texting, halle berry as the woman of the future.©varela
